Overview
Boeing's Directed Energy Systems unit addresses multiple defense needs and customers. Among the key DES programs are the Advanced Tactical Laser (ATL) program and Relay Systems.
Advanced Tactical Laser (ATL) Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration
The ATL ATCD supports Special Operations missions aboard a C-130 aircraft using a high-energy laser system for effects-based engagements against ground targets. The ATL program, which completed its critical design review in 2004, will be demonstrated against ground targets of military interest in operationally representative scenarios. The results will be incorporated into a military utility assessment.
Relay Mirror Systems
Relay mirror systems will greatly enhance laser weapon system performance by reducing the atmosphere's effects on laser beams and extending their range beyond line of sight.
