Boeing ScanEagle UAV Makes First Autonomous Flight
SEATTLE, June 20, 2002 -- The ScanEagle unmanned aerial vehicle, built for Boeing by The Insitu Group, on June 19 completed its first autonomous flight Wednesday at the Boeing Boardman test facility in Oregon. During the 45-minute flight the 33-pound vehicle reached an altitude of 1,500 feet and a speed of 70 knots.
