Steve Goo is vice president of International Operations for Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS), a $32.1 billion business unit with more than 71,000 employees who provide space, defense, intelligence and communication products and services for military, government and commercial customers around the world. In this position, Goo is responsible for improving and integrating the company's growing international business.
Previously, Goo was vice president of IDS Program Management & Business Excellence and led company-wide efforts designed to achieve peak performance. His focus included developing and deploying program management best practices, developing current and future program managers, performing independent assessments of IDS programs, and participating in proposal reviews. He was also responsible for IDS continuous improvement efforts as well as knowledge management, import/export control, process management and performance measurement.
Goo started his career with Boeing in 1977 in Seattle, where he worked on numerous space and defense programs including the Inertial Upper Stage, Airborne Anti-Satellite program and Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle. While in Seattle, he also held positions in Boeing's Research and Engineering division and in Business Development. In 1997, Goo moved to Huntsville, Alabama, where he was assigned to the International Space Station program. He served in several roles there, including director of the U.S. Laboratory Module team, program chief engineer, and director of Engineering for the Huntsville site. In 1999, Goo relocated to Houston, Texas, where he served as Boeing's deputy program manager for technical matters on the International Space Station program. In 2003, Goo was named vice president and deputy general manager of Intelligence for Space and Intelligence Systems (S&IS), where his responsibilities included the daily leadership of all internal programs for S&IS with emphasis on restructuring Boeing Satellite Systems and oversight of multiple proprietary programs; he was promoted to S&IS vice president of Intelligence in 2005.
Goo was born in Seattle, Washington, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington in 1977. He also attended the Carnegie Mellon University Program for Executives in 1992.
