In this position, he manages Integrated Defense Systems' nationwide State and Local Government Relations organization, integrating its efforts with legislative and business initiatives.
Roman is also the St. Louis regional executive, responsible for interaction with community leadership, and for business continuity planning in the region. Roman came to St. Louis from Washington D.C. where he was the vice president and chief of staff of Boeing Washington, D.C., Operations.
Roman joined McDonnell Douglas in 1980 as program coordinator for the Harpoon missile program. Following increasingly responsible assignments with several operating units in St. Louis, he was selected as the McDonnell Douglas representative to the Brookings Institute's Congressional Assistant Program in 1989, where he also served on the professional staff of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Subcommittee on International Operations.
In 1990, Roman became manager for International Operations in the Washington, D.C., office, and in 1993 was promoted to director of International Operations and Strategic Business Development. In 1996, he was named vice president of Operations and Management. Following the merger of Boeing and McDonnell Douglas in 1997, his scope of responsibility expanded, and he was named vice president for International Operations, representing all Boeing divisions at the Washington, D.C., level. He had overall responsibility for sales and marketing, both domestic and international.
With the exception of managing TRW's Washington, D.C., operations in 2002, Roman's entire career has been spent with McDonnell Douglas and Boeing.
Roman holds bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from the Pennsylvania State University. In 2005 he was appointed to serve on the President's National Hire Veterans Committee by the Secretary of Labor.
