ST. LOUIS, Aug. 05, 2008 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] today announced that Anthony "Tony" Jones has been named vice president and senior site executive of Boeing's Huntsville, Ala., operations. Jones will provide strategic guidance to Boeing programs relative to local customer requirements and will oversee business activities related to missile defense, space exploration and homeland security. Jones will also manage the day-to-day operations of the Boeing Huntsville site, which includes leading Boeing's involvement with the local community.

Since joining Boeing in 2006, Jones has served as a vice president for Training Systems and Services, a division of Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Support Systems. As the Huntsville Business Operations leader, Jones replaces Gina DeSimone, the interim Huntsville site executive, who continues as vice president of division operations for Missile Defense Systems, a division of IDS' Network and Space Systems business, in Arlington, Va. Both positions report to Scott Fancher, vice president and general manager for Missile Defense Systems.

Jones previously had a distinguished career in the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of lieutenant general. Prior to joining Boeing, he served as deputy commanding general and chief of staff for the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command at Fort Monroe, Va. Jones was commissioned as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the ROTC program at Indiana University. He also holds a master's degree in systems management from the University of Southern California.

"Tony is a dynamic leader with a distinguished career serving the U.S. Army," Fancher said. "We are truly fortunate to have someone with his extensive experience lead our talented work force in Huntsville and represent our business in the community and with our customers."

Boeing is the largest aerospace company in Alabama. Today, the work force of more than 3,000 employees performs leading-edge work on a broad array of key space and defense programs, including Ground-based Midcourse Defense, Ares I, International Space Station, Avenger, Arrow, and PAC-3 missile.

A unit of The Boeing Company, Boeing Integrated Defense Systems is one of the world's largest space and defense businesses specializing in innovative and capabilities-driven customer solutions. Headquartered in St. Louis, Boeing Integrated Defense Systems is a $32.1 billion business with 71,000 employees worldwide.
