El Al's First Boeing 777 Makes Debut
EVERETT, Wash., Dec. 19, 2000 -- El Al Israel Airlines' first 777-200ER made its debut in the airline's beautiful white, blue and silver livery when it rolled out of the Boeing paint hangar in Everett, Wash., in the early hours of Dec. 17. The massive twin jet emerged slowly behind a tug after being stripped of its protective coating and painted. The airplane will now have final avionics and interior work installed, then go through flight testing. Delivery to El Al is expected in late January. Work on the overhead attendant rest area and upgrades to the video system will be done after delivery. One month later the 777 will be ready for its first flight to Israel.
