Boeing Deploys Emergency Assistance to Support Employees & COVID-19 Response in India
Boeing’s $10 million assistance package will be directed to organizations providing relief, including medical supplies and emergency healthcare for communities and families battling COVID-19
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and well-being of Boeing employees and their families has remained a top priority for the company. As the COVID-19 pandemic surges across India, that commitment continues.
Boeing is encouraging employees in India and their families to get the COVID vaccine as soon as it’s available to them. As part of the broad set of COVID resources being made available in India, the company is offering financial reimbursement to employees and their family members for the cost of the vaccine.
Team members in India also have access to the Global Health Complete App, a service provided by Cigna that connects employees and their families with doctors for phone and video consultations about their health. For those employees and their family members struggling with the emotional toll of the COVID-19 pandemic, Boeing offers no-cost employee assistance through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
The Boeing team in India totals 3,000 employees, in addition to valued local customers, suppliers, and business partners. Boeing’s presence in India stretches more than seven decades and encompasses the Tata-Boeing joint venture, which manufactures parts and major components for products across the enterprise portfolio.
To provide further assistance to the Indian people, Boeing today announced a $10 million emergency assistance package to support the country’s response to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases. The assistance from Boeing will be directed to organizations providing relief, including medical supplies and emergency healthcare for communities and families battling COVID-19.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has devastated communities across the globe, and our hearts go out to our friends in India who are going through a very difficult time. Boeing is a global citizen, and in India we are directing our pandemic response to the communities most impacted by this recent surge of cases,” said Dave Calhoun, president and chief executive officer of The Boeing Company.
Boeing will partner with local and international relief organizations to deploy the $10 million to the areas of greatest need in consultation with medical, government, and public health experts.
Boeing employees may also make monetary donations in support of COVID relief in India. Donations made to charitable organizations will be eligible for the Boeing Gift Match Program. Boeing will match – dollar for dollar – all employee donations up to $10,000 per employee, per calendar year.
“Boeing not only stands in solidarity with the Indian people in their effort to confront this pandemic, we will be a part of the solution,” added Calhoun.
Boeing’s local community engagement in India positively impacts more than 300,000 lives in-country through investments in education, health and sanitation, skills development and outreach programs.
