Boeing employees salute Invictus athletes
The Invictus Games closed on April 22 in The Hague, Netherlands, with a rapturous closing ceremony in celebration of all those athletes who took part. Teams from across the world participated, notably Ukraine, and competed in 10 adaptive sports.
Boeing partnered with the Invictus Games Foundation as part of its support for the global veteran community, which includes funding employment readiness programs for transitioning service members and their spouses. The partnership is also a reflection of what veterans can bring to Boeing. Themes around hard work, coming through adversity and leadership are all attributes shared by our veterans, together with the athletes competing at the Games.
Employee volunteers and veterans were there to engage with the thousands of competitors, their families and friends, visitors and partners who visited the Boeing space at the Games. The volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure everyone felt welcome and engaged with the company. In particular, the veterans in attendance talked to visitors about Boeing’s support of its veteran communities.
Among the most popular attractions was the Newton Room Flight Simulator and the NEMO Science Museum experimentation cart, which both saw a steady stream of attendees.
The Motivating Mural, a large-screen interactive message board also had a great response with many hundreds of messages of encouragement posted to cheer on the athletes. Messages were posted in different languages from Boeing employees all around the world, reflecting the truly international reach of the Invictus Games year after year.
Lawn games, a VR experience and cheer cards completed the entertainment and interaction with Boeing.
